ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµtv students win five Student Production Awards from the Lone Star Emmy® Educational Foundation

A student works on a computerAfter receiving two Student Production Awards from the Lone Star Emmy® Educational Foundation in 2020, ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµtv won five awards in 2021.

“Receiving this award is a great testament to our students’ hard work, passion and commitment,” said Theresa Coronado, ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ communication arts instructor and faculty advisor for ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµtv and KÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ (radio). “I feel blessed to be able to guide them through their journey and witness their achievements.”

Coronado submitted 12 entries in May. Those entries were judged and nine were ultimately nominated.

Antonio Bocanegra II and Alyssa Muñoz directed a live newscast for which they won the Best College Directors Award, while Joy Burgin took home the Best College Talent honor following a story on how the February snow affected San Antonio and ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ. Burgin also won the award for Best College News: General Assignment.

Serin Gupta created a PSA on dealing with depression, which won Best College PSA. Bocanegra won his second award for Best College Animation/Graphics/Special Effects for his efforts on the rebranding of ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµtv-The Word on Campus.
