Providing a Glimpse into the Nest: ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Hosts Cardinal Preview Day
On Sunday, Feb. 22, the Office of Admissions hosted Cardinal Preview Day on the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ’s (ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ) Broadway campus. This event welcomed prospective students and their families to visit ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ getting a sneak peek into life at the Nest and how they can get involved as potential future Cardinals.
One of ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ’s largest groups to date attended Cardinal Preview Day, which welcomed approximately 570 guests. During the event, attendees participated in an Admissions presentation outlining the application process and next steps, heard from faculty representing a variety of academic majors, enjoyed brunch in the dining hall and toured the residence halls in partnership with ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Residence Life.
The day concluded with much anticipated campus tours led by ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ student ambassadors and opportunities to meet one-on-one with admissions counselors.
“Attending Cardinal Preview Day this year reminded me why I chose ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ,!” shared Marissa Ramirez, ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ senior Psychology major and student ambassador. “As a first-generation student, I know how it feels walking into spaces you don’t feel ready to be in yet. Choosing a college to attend is such an overwhelming experience, and I am so grateful we have an event like this that answers students' questions and eases their nerves. I love being able to show these students what makes ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ special and help them see who they can become here. It’s so rewarding to be part of a day that shows students what their future can look like.”
As Cardinal Preview Day came to a close, a sense of Incarnate Word pride was felt as well as the hope of an ever-growing ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ family.
“This day would not have been possible without the dedication of our Office of Admissions student assistants and student ambassadors, who played a key role in setting up this event, and supporting families throughout the day. They did an outstanding job creating a welcoming experience for our guests,” said Director of Welcome Center & Campus Experience, Jose F. Saavedra. “Overall, Cardinal Preview Day was a very successful, and we were excited to connect so many future Cardinals with the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ community.”
