Credential Information for the School of Mathematics, Science and Engineering and the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ

While many fields of study in the sciences do not have singular governing accrediting bodies, three programs within SMSE are accredited or offer credentialed certification.


American Chemical Society (ACS)

The Department of Chemistry at the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ is an ACS-certified chemistry program that adheres to the program guidelines set by the American Chemical Society. The American Chemical Society (ACS) maintains a certification program in which a student graduating with a specified minimum program is certified to the society upon graduation. To be certified, a student majoring in only Chemistry must satisfy requirements in addition to the minimum for graduation.

In the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ, the Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry program has been granted full accreditation by American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB).

Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)

In the Department of Nutrition at the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ, the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) and Dietetic Internship (DI) are both granted full accreditation by ACEND. ACEND is the accrediting agency for education programs preparing student for careers as registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs).
